Default V50 Clutch shifting too soon

Good afternoon,

I've been searching for a used Volvo V50 (2004-2012).
I've tried two of them and both had the same issue: I can shift gears by moving the clutch pedal down only a few inches. From what I know, this is a sign that the clutch engine must be replaced. Was it supposed to shift only when the clutch pedal is all the way down? How do your cars behave?

Thanks in advance

I think this is considered a convenience rather than a problem.

When a hydraulic clutch movement is used, it is perfectly normal for all the slack to be taken up by a small spring. A small pedal movement is adequate, and that is a good thing.
