Default V50 Wheel/car vibration starts light around 90, more 100kmh. comes and goes

Hi there

Just got a v50 and ive noticed when i reach about 90kmh there's some slight vibration and when i get to about 100 and increas to 130 kmh theres a fair progressive more and it can come and go a bit so im unsure what i can be. The steering wheel also gets really light and feels like there is very little grip. Sometimes i can feel it in the car itself. Any ideas what this can be? The steering feels nice and tight at lower speeds.

Sure sounds like suspension parts are worn out. The first one I'd expect is the lower control arm compliance bushing - that's the big rubber disc that your lower control arm is fastened to at the rear end of the control arm. If it's obviously cracked and/or torn, it should be replaced (usually by replacing the entire LCA just to save having to press in new bushings). Worn tie rod ends / tie rods can cause a similar problem as well. And of course, an unbalanced wheel can cause similar symptoms (though they tend not to "come and go" as much).

Thanks, appreciate the answer. I had another test drive and its kind of always there but vary a bit in strength. I'll have the wheel balanced on Monday and hope its that. The dealer is being real difficult about it calling out snow, winter and poor roads which is bs on salted 2 year old freeways. Needless to say it will be a battle getting him to fix it even with 5 year warranty on hidden faults in the law regardless of any contract.

If there IS any possibility that you've got any kind of mud / snow / gunk stuck on your wheels, that CAN cause the kind of problems you're having.

Thats true of course. I havent seen anything in there but i cant say 100% of course but since it varies a bit in strength and such it would be a bit odd. But hey i dont have any experience with these rims so i cant tell you for sure. Never had an issue on any other car though

an easy first step is to rotate tires front to rear to see if that changes anything and inspect things like axle boots etc while you have the wheels off
