V50i Headliner Removal
Just bought my first Volvo a V50i. It must have the headliner replaced and I'm ready to do it myself. My concern it the curtain airbags.I have disabled many other types of air bags to work on them but never curtains and never on a Volvo. Has anyone done this and taken off all the plastic trim? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have done a lot of basic interior work including headliners.
Thanks Bubba

FWIW, I've always just disconnected the battery when I'm going to be fiddling around the neighborhood of airbags. I'll remove the negative lead, then touch it to the positive terminal to make sure there isn't any residual power left anywhere (at least not anything that would fire off an airbag). You might want to check to make sure you have any radio security codes before doing that though, just in case it wakes up stupid. ;-)
Good luck with your headliner install - I did that in my Jeep Cherokee, and it's got to be one of the biggest improvements per dollar you can do to a vehicle. Of course, that dinosaur had a grand total of two airbags (steering wheel and passenger dash) so I've never had to worry much about them (other than when I was working on the "clock spring" mechanism when fixing my cruise control).
