Default Volvo V50 1.8 flexifuel with problems ...

A big Hello forum !

The Volvo v50 2009 1.8F of my mother has more and more problems and hopefully I'm going to be able to find a solution with the community help. She bought the car just few months ago from a very dishonest seller, and recently the car shows new problems with the following error codes P0132 and P1131. On top of this i found out looking under the hood that the intake hose which is between the air filter and the engine has two big cuts probably due to age. I sealed with some tape and searching a replacement.

Going back to this two errors which they showed up just yesterday; the car shakes at times during a trip, it looks is consuming quite a lot of gasoline, as well when in use at times feels like the engine doesn't get fuel and for a fraction of a second stops to then resume normal operation. Other symptoms are with cold engine, sometimes the engine stops like he doesn't get the right ratio air fuel ?! or somethin like that...

Any help is very much appreciated !!

Tack, tack, från Sverige !!!

I'd suggest replacing the upstream O2 (aka "A/F" or Air Fuel) sensor. Certainly, all the symptoms and codes could be because of that sensor being bad (or even just dirty, if you'd prefer to try cleaning it, though I don't recommend that - sensors are cheap compared to the amount of gas you'll waste with a marginal sensor). We don't have the 1.8l variant here, so you'll have to work out where the sensor is.

i'm attaching a picture, the bottom is the back of the engine, will then follow exhaust manifold probably precat ?! and then cat with lambda sensor marked as 1 slightly down and after there's sensor marked with 2 is underneath the 2 black tubes. I'm not sure but i think i should try to clean or replace sensor no 1 ?!

Hopefully someone who's actually seen a diesel variant will chime in, but yes, the pre-cat sensor is the one that will be the one that would affect performance and throw the codes you're seeing (said with the understanding that I've never laid eyes on the variant you drive).

Not sure I'm following you. This is a petrol engine. What good will be to have a diesel feedback from anyone ?!

Oops... replace "diesel" with "flexifuel" and you end up at the same place. ;-)
