Default Wheel/Tire question

Looking at a set of Canisto Wheels -love the look when I had a '98 C70. I just found a pair at the wreckers with really good rubber - I need new tires.
The Canisto's are 17" rims 7.5" wide and have 225 45 17's the hub is 63.4 and the offset is 43 I believe my V60 has 205 55 16's and has a 65.1 hub and an offset of 52.5.
It is not clear on the research I have done as to whether anyone has done this successfully. The tire height is almost the same - small percentage of difference.
Any comments would be most welcome,
Thanks

The centerbore being smaller on the new wheels is kind of a show-stopper, IMHO. FWIW, I found a set of newer V60 wheels / tires for my '05 V50, which I think looked / worked great. They also didn't take any adjustments (since the centerbore was spot on). I did use spacers to locate them properly in the wheelwells though (not absolutely necessary, but it's just SO much cooler looking that way). ;-)

What size tires are you running?

Tire size went from 205/55/16 to 215/50/18, which is a calculated 0.6" increase in diameter, or about 2.4%.

Here's a photo that shows the spacing with 25mm rear spacers installed...

That looks really good - thanks for the info - I guess I need to do a lot more research to see what option I have for my rim/tire options.

wheelsize.com is a good resource for what rim/tire combos work for your model/year.

Also check out hubcaphaven.com who carries a lot of OEM style aftermarket wheels. I used them when buying a 2nd set of rims for my S40. plus they have pictures and style names if you want to google/search eBay etc :-)

I ended up finding a set of 2013 C70 rims with tires that are 235 40 18"s and they work well - hub size matches and the car sits quite nice and rides great - no rubs or bottoming out. I also ended up changing a front stabilizer link that was causing a thud over bumps....it I can figure out how to post a pick I will send it out - thanks for the help and advice.

the interesting thing about Volvo wheels is that the Gen2 S40s were the first to get the smaller center bore like in 2005 and the rest of the model line went in 2010. So if you have an 2005+ S40, you get to swap rims from the newer models :-)

Finally an answer! Thank you sir. Mine is 2009. December (was a Police car before). The best Volvo forum by far.
