Default 850 T-5 17" tire size help

I just bought 17" rims that have 235/45 tires on them. They fit good until I tried to turn the wheel and they rubbed bad. The 235 seems too wide. Any thoughts on if I used a 225/40? I currently have the H&R lowering springs on the car. I am not sure on the offset of the rim or the actual width (suppose I could measure it). I know they came off another 850 though. Thanks all.

You should be able to findthe offset inside the back of the wheel if they're oem, not sure what am might have or not. The best you can probably hope for is a 215\40 being lowered unless you use spacers and or roll the fenders. That's if you stay with the 245s, 225s might work with the right combination of tire, wheel offset and the two I mentioned above. There aren't a lot of choices in 225s for a 17" wheel that will fit the 850, maybe just the Nitto model x? 225s can be done if you take the time and get the right fitment.

They are MASItalia 17 X 7-1/2. My concern running 205 is if it would look funny on the wheel. A friend of mine had wheels with tire that were not wide enough and they looked streched on the rim. Here's a pic of the one's I bought

As far as spacers, the tire extended a bit out side the wheel well so I am afraid with a spacer it might be too much, but thanks. Guess I might be looking at a 215, too bad I can't test fit this stuff. Thanks all.

They look like Masitaly's President, I had a set on my 854R for a couple seasons and then gave them to my son. They don't make the president any more but your's look just like them, nice wheel. A 205/45 would be fine on that wheel, the oem 850 17s would have been 17x7 with that same size tire. You won't see a lot of difference putting that tire on a 7.5" wheel and it would look fine, I ran 215\40s 0n 17x8 Pegasus wheels with 10 mm spacers in ft and 15 mm in the rr and never rubbed. you'd be fine with the 215s but after sending back the sways then somethings telling me you'll be going 205. Good luck with it, good choice on the wheels...what tires are you putting on them?

What size tires are on that wheel...you got some major sidewall going on there!? They almost look like they wouldn't just based on the height of the sidewall there but it may just be perspective.

The tires on there are 235/45. I only sent the sway bar back due to funding. I think I am going to try 215. As for tire selection I have heard some good things about BFGoodrich KDW. A friend of mine had them on his 350 and swore by them. But I was kinda thinking Falken maybe. I found both in 215/40. Thoughts?

I've had the Falken FK-451s on Volans for a few seasons at one time and was very happy with the way they performed wet and dry. They lasted good too for the most part, as far as wear goes andI eventually switched to Yokohamas only to try the Parada2. I've never run Goodrich tires but I've heard a lot of good about the KDW2. Are you looking for summer tires or something all season?

I'll be going summer tire. I have a set of blizzaks I only used one winter. But unfortunately my summer tires will have to wait till spring. I need to get some winter rims. Hopefully next month when I get some money. I figure I can get something with good grip, even if it costs me tread life, because I ride my Honda for the most part in the spring/summer/fall.

I'd think a 225/45 would fit ok...depends how much rubbing you're getting with the 235s though. The 225/45 is a good bit smaller diameter, but 40 series would be safer...

215/45/17 works with minimal rubbing. 235 is wayyyyyyy too big.
