I have a 00 Volvo V70 non turbo 5cyl FWD wagon. When you start out driving it won't go passed 2 or 3 RPMS and the traction control on the instrument cluster starts blinking which is the STC stability traction control light. I notice when I start the car and engage the STC switch it drives fine. I thought the problem was that the car needed aligned however after this was done it still continued to do the same thing. What is the problem with my car and what can I do to fix it?

do you keep up with your maitenence? tune -up, fuel filter?
your catilitc converter may be plugged.
or it could be your abs module, those things fail in differnt ways, that can cause your stc light to flash. i would have it scanned for codes
also they have problems with the electric throttle control systems

 

The car is in "limp home" mode from the ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) going bad. I have a '99 wagon and it failed about 2 years ago. I had the about the same mph and the STC light would blink. There were alot of problems with them and I think they are covered under a recall. You can go to an Autozone or Murray's and use a code reader for free to verify. Good luck

A code 1670 came up on the volvo as well I don't know what that means.
