Default '01 V70 2.4T Battery/charging sys/problem?

I'm new to the forum and already have a question. I have a 2001 V70 2.4T that, out of the blue - no warning signs like slower starting etc. - wouldn't start. It sounded like a bad battery, a lot of clicking heard from inside the car like the starter wasn't getting enough power. All the status lights on right side of dash blinking and no start. I jumped it off and proceeded to get a new battery. The shop (not a volvo shop - auto parts shop), put it through their tester and found no problems with any of the systems - charging, starting under load or not. It then started fine for me for a couple more tries over the course of the afternoon. Son drove it at night and same result - wouldn't start until jumped off. The only other clues I can offer are 1) sun roof doesn't work now 2) clock needed to be reset even though the leads to the battery were never removed. I'm befuddled, do any of you experts have any thoughts? Thanks

Okay, it did it to me today - it was all the classic symptoms of needing a new battery so I did it. We'll see what happens. I think the sunroof and Homlink not working are unrelated coincidences.

Lock and unlock the car with the key to get the sunroof back.

See what the Alt is charging at. It should be at 14.25 or so. Also check it after a test drive if the Alt. goes bad the voltage will drop off after the car is hot.
