Default 1998 V70 misfires in random cylinders.

I have been getting a check engine light that checks out as cylinder misfires. It is not allways the same cylinder codes. I can usually retrieve the codes on my reader but could not after the check engine light started randomly flashing. The plugs, wires, rotor and cap have recently been changed. The car hesitates at random times and at different RPM's. The mass airflow sensor was replaced at an earlier time. The ignition HT coil makes a barely audible electrical arcing sound, could this cause these misfire faults and engine hesitations?

Yes; definitely need a new coil.
