1999 v70 engine light after jump start
After jumpstarting my 1999 v70 2.5 deisel the engine light has come on I have been told it will go off after a time or do I need to get it turned off at volvo. Or could it have done more damage.

Hello, Just do it. They're cheap enough. Buy it locally, just in case it doesn't "connect" with your car. You've given us nothing to work with on this one. Low voltage alone can make a check engine light come on. If nothing is wrong the light will go out, yes. If something is broken, out of adjustment or merely disconnected; it won't. Then you'll be driving around with a fault, waiting for the light to go out, possibly damaging your car further. Get a code reader, mate! It'll pay for itself quickly. You can read codes for others. You'll be a hero. Can't beat that. Kira
Thanks for the info. The light was just a low voltage warning. As for the code reader I looked up would cost about 150pounds for our year 2 years younger it would cost about 15pounds ie big rip off. Do you know any where cheaper.

GO STEADY!! don't go to volvo yet... they will wan't £60 just to look at it!
first things first, is it the mill light that has come on? i.e the little picture of an engine.... if so this is to do with emissions and is a small problem of just cancelling off the ECU. code line...mainly because there is a lot of unburned diesel in there... i take it the car has not slipped into limp mode... i.e drives on reduced power only..... This sounds like a battery fault more than anything else.... check and charge up battery lets face it a diesel engine takes a lot out of a low or knackered battery on start up. GOOD LUCK...
