Exclamation 1999 V70 Reset Anti-Theft after battery replaced

I have gone through the posts -- most seem to apply to newer models.
V70 Wagon 1999
Have radio code
Replaced battery- reset radio code
Car will not start
Idiot lights go on in position 2 and 3
When try to start car headlights go off
Radio works. Anti-theft light blinks
Tried disconnecting/reconnecting battery
Tried holding key in unlock position for 10 seconds x 3
Tried unlocking and locking drivers door with key 3- 5-10-15 times
Do not have a remote
Do not appear to have a key with a chip
Do have "Volvo" keys

Do I need a separate anti-theft code?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks-
Kells

Default Suggestions

Hello, I never heard of any anti-theft code. If you have more than one key, try them. Try "rowing" the gear selector lever a bunch to dislodge dirt. Search "antenna ring" and see if posters describe your condition. Is there an "engine power fuse"? Did the car sit idle? Good luck and please get back to us. Kira

Default keys

Tried both keys that I have. Car was working fine, although not driven much. Drove it to where we took old battery out (was suggested that it be replaced before winter, but otherwise was working fine). Put new battery in..car would no longer start.
We are taking it to mechanic that sold it to us in the next few days, will let you know how it gets resolved.
Thanks-

Smile resolved

My mechanic came up to the house. He couldn't start the car at first either, and was also puzzled. He disconnected the ingition wire from the starter and then "jumped" it using a screwdriver across the onnection. The car started, and restarted after reconnecting the ignition wire. He does not know if this process reset some sort of anti-theft code. Bottom line..it now runs perfectly!

When you said the "car will not start" do mean it won't crank the engine over at all? Or did it crank but not start?
