Default 1999 Volvo V70 2.5 turbo camshaft sensor issue

I've recently bought a 1999 Volvo V70 2.5 turbo petrol. Was driving fine until a check engine light popped up. Discovered that it's an error code p0013 camshaft position error. Now call me stupid but from everything I've googled and looked up in manuals I just can't seem to find where this sensor could be. If any one could help with photos guiding I would appreciate it

It's mounted on the end of the exhaust cam (on a b5234t3) That engine has VVT on the exhaust cam only.

Usually it's not a bad sensor - it's usually because the cam timing is very slightly off. So - don't just replace the sensor and hope for the best - that style sensor rarely needs replacement. If your car were a 1993-1998 it would be a different story - those cam sensors fail on many cars.

Thanks so much for your reply. What would you suggest? The car seems to run fine I just don't want it to cause an issue

Could be many things - If there's anything messing with the VVT you can get a cam sensor code. The VVT operates with oil pressure - so low oil, problems with the VVT solenoid, clogged filter screen at the VVT, cam timing slightly off.

You can monitor the operation of the VVT with a compatible scan tool.
