Hi, more issues. My wife's 2004 v70 T5 makes a slight whining noise when cold and it changes when you give it gas. Sounds like turbo, quiets down when warmed up. It just started about 2 weeks ago. Car runs fine, no smoke, plenty of power. Somebody ask me if it was bearing type or oil journal? I didn't know. My question is this normal and is it safe to drive, or am I looking at another turbo for replacement? Always something, never had problems between this and my daughter's S60 with my 93 240. Oh, the v70 T5 has 150000 miles on it. She loves the car. I don't know where to go with this noise.

No way to tell if a noise is normal or not w/o hearing it. Make a utube and post it or take it to a tech you trust and have them take a listen.


My turbo makes whining noise when it starts to spool (around 2K rpm) and it is very noticeable when cold but practically gone once engine is warmed up.
