Question 2001 V70 rear high brake light replacement?

Hello,

My 2001 V70 failed inspection due to tag lights and the rear central/high brake light not working. I got the tag lights taken care of, but am concerned about the brake light. I don't want to spend a fortune on this if I don't have to.

So far, I've been told it's an OEM LED and not a bulb, it's a $75 part and I can/should replace it myself. I've also read that sometimes it is a wiring issue due to hatch flexure, instead of a LED issue, but I don't know how to test for that. I also have no idea how to pop off the inner-back of the hatch to get at the LED and/or the wiring.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Megan.

LED was fine. $400+ for a new wiring harness.
