Default 2001 V70 self opening sunroof

I purchased my 2001 V70 about 2 months ago. It has 80,000 miles on it and runs like a top. It does have one strange problem from time to time. The sunroof will open by itself after the engine is shut off and the key is removed from the switch. It even happened once, as my wife was driving slowly in town. I have returned it to the used car dealer where I purchased it, but the problem never happens when it is there. He drove it for several days and naturally nothing occurred. It may go for two weeks, then open several times in a row then not again for a length of time. Any ideas as to what is causing this? Can I disable the sunroof easily so it won't happen in the middle of one of our soon to have snowstorms? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello, I have nothing certain. You could try locking and unlocking the doors 5 times. It might sound silly but I've read it several times on the Volvo boards and the procedure can clear the computer's nerves. Easy enough to try. Kira

Pull the switch out and see if it happens without a switch. If it does, you'll have eliminated that item.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try the lock and unlock 5 times tomorrow and also try to check out the switch. We love the car. Its our third Volvo. We had an '88 240 wagon, most recently a '92 240 wagon with 250,000 miles before she was temporarily retired. I was told by a local transmission shop where it was towed that she needed a new transmission. I took her off the road, but couldn't stand to send her to the junkyard. My neighbor and I were finally able to put the old gal up on some ramps in the backyard only to discover that the transmission lines to the radiator were the real culprits. We are not mechanics in any sense of the word. But even we could easily replace the rusted sections of these lines. I enjoy these cars. Thank you again for your help.
