2004 V70r fuel issues
Hello,
I'm new here and new to volvos and am in need of a little help. My automotive repair background is mostly my little 1984 Mazda Rx-7 GSL-SE and this volvo is a bit different from that. I originally purchased it as a daily as I go through more extensive work on my Rx-7 but the daily volvo has spent more time in the shop than on the road in the few months I've owned it. The most recent problem has to do with fuel.
It has been throwing the p0193 code off and on since I bought it, which I understand to be the fuel pressure sensor possibly being bad. I ignored it for some time as my understanding was it was just a bad sensor, but lately the car has started sputtering under throttle and more importantly blowing the fuel line off the fuel pump and dumping fuel everywhere. The first two times were upon start up in the driveway but I just snapped the line back on and the most recent fuel line failure was on the way home from work which wasn't fun. Initially thinking it was a bad sensor or even a bad fuel pump (even though the fuel pump was replaced less than 20K miles ago), I'm now thinking these issues may be related to the connection between the fuel pump and the hose although I should probably replace the sensor as well for good measure.
Any other ideas as to what may be going on and more specifically how to go about repairing it? I've located a fuel pump assembly and fuel pressure sensor but not the female connection onto the fuel pump assembly.
Thanks guys!

Have you done any measuring of the fuel pressure at the rail? Not sure if this applies to your car or not, but check out Reference Bulletin SMB 23-181, TNN 23-181 which talks to issues with fuel pressure sensors in S60s and V70s. You may want to call a dealer to see if there's anything in play for your car.

I believe your car has the variable pressure fuel pump which uses the sensor's signal to increase or lower the pressure so that would also say to me that if you have a blockage somewhere (could be in the tank as you may/may not have a fuel filter canister on your model) , the computer would sense if the sensors signal goes out of range. Also since you've had work done, you may want to check for any connector/wiring issues going to the pump.

How would I go about checking the wiring around the fuel pump to insure the wires aren't causing my issues?
Thanks
