2006 V70 clutch pedal noise
This post is closely related to the clutch pedal noise (creaking) issue posted by bigbreak last year involving 2005 S40's and V50's.

In that issue there was some unknown defect in clutch pedal assembly materials which resulted in a creaking noise when the clutch pedal was depressed. The issue was acknowledged by Volvo to some degree as there was a TSB for S40's and V50's and some (but not all) persistent customers got Volvo to replace the entire assembly with a "clutch spring replacement kit".
My 2006 v70 has the same issue, but to my knowledge there is no TSB for V70's or S60's. The issue is relatively rare as there are not very many V70's with manual transmissions, at least in the U.S.. I have read that certain T5's have the issue and I have read about many European owners with the issue.
My question is has anybody with a V70 or S60 had this problem and successfully fixed it with Volvo paying? Are the clutch pedal assemblies for the V50 and the V70 the same parts?
As for my attempts to fix it I have had only minor success. I have repeatedly lubed every joint of the assembly and can make the sound go away only briefly. I have used graphite, teflon chain lubricants, and white grease. The chain lubricant made the noise go away the longest, about three weeks. The offending part, in my opinion, is not the clutch spring, but rather the clutch position sensor arm which is attached about 1/3 of the way down the clutch pedal stem. Mine is white plastic and is attached to a steel bearing on the stem. If I move the arm around just right on the bearing I can make the creaking disappear.
Anyway, has anyone with a V70 or S60 fixed this? I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
