'98 V70 GLT fuel injector o-ring question
In my 1998 V70 GLT [Engine: B5254T), the fuel injectors have brownish plastic "washers" (for lack of a better term) that seem to hold the bottom (manifold side) o-rings in place. I believe these were white originally and turned brown with age.
Here is a stock image of some aftermarket injectors so you can see what I am talking about (note the white "washer" on the nozzle end of the injector):
One of these broke off at some point during my head gasket job, and I do not know what the part is called or where to find a replacement.
Questions:
(1) Are these "washers" necessary for safe, proper function of the injectors?
(2) If they are, is it possible to buy them individually or as part of a seal kit? If so, where are these available? Thank you all for your help!

I would love to be able to get one of those seals as part of a kit. Problem is, I can't find any seal kits that include them! Most of the seal kits I come across just have 2 o-rings. There is one kit I found that has something that looks right, but it fits very loosely and I am just not sure. Unfortunately I am a complete amateur when it comes to dealing with anything related to fuel injectors.
Below is a picture of the only kit I found that has anything close to these washers. It is listed at o'reilley auto parts as being for my car:

The bottom-right thing looks most likely. I bought one of these kits, and that little white washer is thicker than the one that came off my injector and the hole is too big for it to snap onto the end of the nozzle. Also, my injectors don't have that blue part at all!
It could be that the washer (bottom right in the picture above) is exactly right and compresses to a thinner washer with a smaller hole when you tighten down the fuel rail, but I don't feel safe just assuming that until I know for sure.
Needless to say I am perplexed right now.

UPDATE: Answer found! For anyone having the same problem, I found the answer in a post on matthew's volvo site: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...hp?f=1&t=60945
The "washers" are a special style pintle cap retainer, and can be ordered, but not cheaply. They don't seem to be available at auto parts stores, but there are a couple of websites dedicated to fuel injector parts that sell them, and they are also available on ebay. I can't seem to find them on amazon.
P.S. the white nylon washer does NOT seem to be the right one.

When I did a head job last month I took an injector to a shop to be tested. The plastic spacer you are talking about was cracked. The shop told me not to worry about it. The injectors will still spray a good pattern and the rubber seal on the end will still seal in the manifold. They are not really needed in most applications.
