Call someone at FCP Groton, Eeuroparts, or IPD. I bet one of them will have an answer.

Question cat code

Hello Hirsch328,

The easy answer to your question is that a 49 state cat can be used in all states other than California. The tough part comes if your local inspection station is really checking out the emissions code on the car. Aftermarket cats have codes on them that indicate complience with California emissions standards. IF you car has California emissions equipment then you would have to replace the cat with a California certified unit to comply with the codes that most states use indicating that "OE emissions equipment must be left intact and in proper working order" in order for the car to comply with any states standards.
Do you happen to know the emissions code number on the car?

Volvo is an "over the top" company. I believe that all of their cars sold all over the country will pass the CA inspections. I think that's 1/2 the problem with this PCV system, extream emission system.

All they do is make sure there is a cat on the car and that there are dtc codes present. So all I really need is the cat to not throw a check engine light
