99 V70 Tbelt removal
Newbie. I have 2 questions on V70 std 100K miles. I have followed VADIS up to ....
1. I have a mechanical tensioner. Do I have to replace it? Not sure from VADIS
2. How do the heck your remove the belt? VADIS tells me to remove vibration damper (30 MM big mama socket) with a special VOLVO tool # 999 5433 (to hold the other 4 nuts). Way down by the plastic hatch on the RH wheel well.
Is there any WAY to remove the belt w/o doing that. Do not have the special volvo tool
I think tech said to remove the metal shield behind it but all I see it is the Tbelt plastic cover at the bottom of the crankshaft. Do I remove that? If so, what do I need?
BTW, this is my 2nd 99 V70. Love these machines.
Help is very much appreciated. Best regards

You can try I always remove the lower crank pulley with air tools it is a breeze.
I would replace the tensioner and idler pulley because the life span of them is only 80,000.

If you can get the nut off that will be great.
Then the 4 10MM screws.
Then take a hard rubber mallet or the rubber insolated deadblow hammer and hit the pulley a couple of times and it should fall off.

I ordered the tensioner and the pulley, but I do not think I can get the old belt out w/o proper volvo tool, P/N 999 5433.
You can buy it, I will confirm tomorrow, at Kent-Moore Tools in Minnesota. 1-800-345-3399 for ~$45
Thanks

Here there are the pics. One is the crankshaft and the othwer the not-so-famous tool
I guess you need the tool otherwise I would lose the timing.

That tool screws outside the pulley to help hold the crank for you to loosen the 32MM nut.
But for the cost of the tool I would buy an electric impact for the job or find someone with Air tools to break it loose for you.
