AC passenger side blows hot air
My 2002 V70 is having an issue on the passenger side temperature control. With the AC on it blows cold then hot air, then cold and it keeps doing this. Anyone got an idea, and how do you get to this control, do you pry off the trim plate?

Thank you for the reply,
I have two temperature dials from blue to red, when I fiddle with the right side one it will change from hot to cool or cool to hot. So I was thinking this control has gone bad. Do you pry the trim plate off to get to this control?

I have the same problem with my 96 850T and 01 V70. All it takes is a movement of the dial and it works. I'm going to take my 850 control unit a part to see if I can fix the problem and I'll post pics. It seems that the MCU (micro control unit) is not getting a signal from the dial. This might be why we have flashing lights on our 850 control units and the cause of the V70 not working too.
Also, I've found that toggling the REC switch on the 850 will make the fresh air damper work. So my immediate fix on the 850 is to, after starting, toggle the REC switch and turn the passenger side temp. dial (up then down) and all works ok.
