Air Conditioning HELP

RE: Air Conditioning HELP
OK I thought we were talking about the High Pressure switch that is close to the dryer. After doing some reading on bimmerzone.com the Pressostat refers to the low pressure switch close to the firewall. I ordered the high pressure switch thinking that it was the problem based on the diagnosis in the previous replies. So ..........are we in fact talking about the high pressure switch? or the low pressure switch?
Thanks,
Gino

Bad BAd BAd news!
I bit the bullet and took the car to a local volvo specialist. Bad compressor and bad evaporator. $2700 bill on this one. This better be the last A/C I have to put in this thing. 12 hrs labor on the evaporator alone. They said they are seeing a lot of V70s in the 98 range with these problems. Any validity to this statement.
I was hoping to replace my stock struts/shocks but this bill has set me back a bit.

RE: Air Conditioning HELP
Lucky? I don't think so. I'm 34 years old. Between my father, brother and myself we have owned at least a dozen cars all of American and Japanese manufacturers. Only 1 car ever needed a new evaporator. ALL of these cars were kept to at least the age of 15 or more years unless they were totalled in an accident. I hope to never own a car that needs a new evaporator every 2-3 years. Therefore I find your statement completely absurd. I have total respect for your knowledge and the reliability of that knowledge but your opinion on evaps is, in my humble opinion, unfounded.

RE: Air Conditioning HELP
Check with Any Volvo shop or the Dealer. They are a Very common problem.
They are Poorly designed by FORD. There for they don't work well.
If you really want it to Last till you dump or Wreck the car Find a Copper Evap and have that installed.
The 240's used to have them. The cars out there with then are still original from atleast 1985.
You can take my statement as you wish. I was just letting you know that they are a common problem.
We do atleast 3 to 4 a week in the shop.(Small shop 4 Tech's.)
At the Dealer we used to do atleast 5-10 a week. Mainly during the Summer.
