My '01 v70 needs new tranny. I am looking to buy one from car-part.com andI see that for this particular year they have more than one transmission. Even if I selectmodel that has same options as mine (FWD, AT, 2.4T, no geartronic) it still comes back with 3 different trannies. What number is the most important one to match?
There is "N" number, is that actual tranny number or just serial? From what I understand difference is in number of connectors or their shape? Tech, any idea?

AW 55-50SN is the type of number you will look for on the top of the transmission.

It's too late, they sent me one with 4 connectors and mine has only one. I guess they sent metranny from S60 that supposely fits some 70 models? Good thing they will take it back.
Everyone else that I called today also has one with 3 or 4 connectors. Do you know if transmissionswith one connectorare rare? With my luck it probably they probably are[:@]

 

On the 01's yes they are rare. But if all the numbers match up then worse case you can swap the harness from your old one to the new tranny.
We have done this many times before without any problems.

You need a 55-50 transmission. The 9482025 is the Volvo Part number. I think the 00cv712497 is the serial number.

 

It might fit but not sure never tried.

Actually read on another forum that physically doing a auto manual swop is not such a problem. The problem comes in with the electronics (as per usual).

 

Same sort of question here, wonder if you can chime in Tech?

I've got a V70 T5, transmission 55-50 part number 9482025.

Found a used one, also 55-50, but the part number's 8636081.

Is that going to fit or must my quest continue?
