Default Backup Lights not working - 5-speed

Neither of my backup lights are turning on my 5-speed V70 wagon when I shift into reverse. I wanted to check the contact but wanted to find out whether I can access this by removing the center console or have to access from underneath. Thanks!

If it is the manual transmission 5-speed the sensor is on the top of the transmission.
There is only 2 wires going to the sensor.

It is like on the top of the transmission next to the air filter box. There should be a black 2 wire plug. To make sure the wiring is good unplug it and jump the 2 terminals and see if the lights come on. If they do the switch is bad.
