Battery drain - or is my V70 smarter than that...?
HI All
I have a V70 T5 SE 2002. I've never used the cigar lighter charger socket in the boot - which appears to stay on after the ignition is off - for fear of forgetting I plugged something in to it and coming back to find the battery flat. I use the car for work and can end up in all sorts of remote places in the middle of the night, and may not be in a position to go back to the car and check anyway.
However, it'd be really handy to have a rechargeable torch plugged in in the boot so it's always available and I dont have to keep humping one around all winter. So can anyone tell me if the charger socket in the boot will automatically switch off when the battery power drops after the engine has been off a while?
I've seen the low battery power message come up on the dash when I've been parked up with the blowers and radio on but the engine off, etc, and common sense would suggest that if Volvo bother to do that, they would also make sure the boot socket would switch off before completely draining the battery.
But rather than trying it out and having the hassle of getting someone to come jump start my car in the middle of nowhere at two in the morning, I wondered if anyone in here might know the answer...?
Many thanks
