Default Battery up keep for Snowbird car

I have a V70 that I ljust got and intend to eave in Phoenix, and visit on occasion.

Over the period of a couple of months, if stored, the battery will go dead. And on the V-70 it is in the back end, and you can't get the tail gate up to jump. I understand, there is a hot lead near the firewall.

My question, short of disconnecting the battery, is there any way I can get the battery to keep a charge during the 1-3 months between visits?? Thanks.

Default Battery ...

Hi, I live in Arkansas and send the winter in Florida. I use a battery tender ( $30-35) on everything I leave at home, 3 cars, 2 boats, riding lawn mowers, wave runner. I hook them directly to the barttery and just forget about them. The money is cheaper than buying new batteries every year.
Also, put some fuel stablizer or Seafoum ( I buy Seafoum by the gallon) into the cars fuel tank, go for a drive so the fuel stuff gose through the entire fuel system before storing. Todays fuels start to turn to junk in about 3 weeks. Fill up the gas tank before storing.

Cb questions ?

Battery Tender provides a "float" charge which keeps the battery charged without overcharging it. Don't know the year of your V70, but in my 06 there are + and - attachment points under the hood. Use them, not the battery posts themselves.

Stabil in a full tank (run the engine until you smell it in the exhaust so you know the fuel lines and injectors have Stabil in them). Change oil and filter before storage and fill the tires a few psi extra. No need to jack up the car for just a few months storage although you may feel the thump thump of flat spots until the tires have a few miles on them. Wash it and put a good car cover on it, make sure the windows are closed, and if you're truly obsessive, shove some stainless steel scrubber in the exhaust so no critters crawl up there.

I've stored cars and motorcycles this way for years without a problem and the climate here is far worse than you have in AZ. Due to temp fluctuations here, I also use a Starbrite dryer/dehumidifier product available in marine stores everywhere to keep the interior dry. Don't think you'll need that in AZ.

Plan B: lend me the car for the months you're not using it!

If it's stored outdoors, a solar trickle charger left on the dashboard and plugged into the Cig lighter will do the job cheap. I keep one on my old plow truck and it keeps the battery up even in subzero weather.
