I have a 1998 V70, and I just noticed a black plastic box, about 6" x 3", hanging down behind and next to the front air dam (under bumper) on the drivers side. What is this, and why/how has it dropped down?

Car behaves fine otherwise, but I'm concerned it's hanging by a hose or electrical cable that will wear and break.

 

Hello, Of course it will be damaged by hanging by a hose or wire. Get down there and find its home. It might be the thermometer. Kira
