Default black plastic trim piece on the driver door falling off

the black plastic trim piece on the driver door is starting to come off and the front of it, the tip closest to the front fender is getting caught on the fender whenever i open the door. I tried to superglue the sucker back onto the door but it's not really holding, does anyone have any tricks on getting this black plastic piece on the door to stay put? thanks!

I'm ashamed to say that Liquid Nails seems to do the trick. I had the same issue on my '94 850 and it stayed glued about 2 years before falling off again...I'm ready to re-glue myself this weekend...unless someone else has a better idea!

to do this, did you rip off the whole piece and glue it all back on or just the part that was falling off? bc i know that there's some plastic piece that normally holds it on from the back, so are you in essence replacing that piece with the liquid nails or just the portion that's falling off.

The entire piece fell off actually. Clips in the back were broken and/or missing, hence the Liquid Nails--this was my Father-in-law's idea...not mine...but it works!

You may want to take it off, get new clips, bend the trim so that it doesn't lift on that edge, then re-install it.

Default Moulding Clips

I have a similar issue with the door molding coming off the side of my '95 volvo 850. It appears there are 2 types of clips used to hold the moulding in place. 1 is a push pin style that locks the piece in place, the remainder slide into openings. Has anybody been able to locate a site that sells the retaining clips? I have searched to no avail.

Is there a good foreign car salvage yard near you? Those are great places for clips and screws. The links below may be helpful also.

http://www.maroneysforeigncar.com/ This place has been very helpful in the past.

http://www.swedishautoparts.com/850/...Mouldings.html There is an 800 number you can call to see if the clips are included with the moldings.

Otherwise, I guess the Volvo dealer is the last stop.

Yeah, the door trim fell off my daughter's car - she solved the problem by throwing it in the trunk - it hasn't come off since!
