A/C running with car turned off
Hi. I have a 2001 V70 (purchased in Feb) and have had 3 occasions where after turning the car off, the fan and A/C continue to run inside the car. The last two instances, I know that the fan and A/C were not running when I turned the car off, but I have returned to the car an hour later to find the fan and A/C blowing inside the car. In all the cases it has been very hot outside and the engine cooling fan has also been running after I turn the car off. I searched the forum and could not find any other instances of this malfunction. Has anybody heard of this before?

RE: A/C running with car turned off
Hi bos,
I've seen this mentioned around a few times and the common response is that the fan continues to run after the car is off in order to remove condensation from the evaporator (reducing the opportunity for mold/mildew to grow on the evaporator).
As far as I know, it's nothing to be concerned about - I've seen it happen in my '99 V70 as well.

RE: A/C running with car turned off
Thanks for the useful info! I will keep an eye on it to make sure that it runs for only 5 minutes. When it happened on Monday, it seemed that the compressor was running as well, since it was nice and cool in the car when I climbed in. If it was just the blower then I would have expected it to be blowing hot outside air. I wouldn't think that the compressor should run as well.
