When I turn on the A/C for the first few minutes I get a musty smell. The car is draining water on the garage floor just fine. Is there a way of cleaning the evaporator or is there a collection area that needs cleaned?

 

First thing to check is the cabin filter. It should be replaced at least once a yearand more often in heavy traffic or dusty conditions.

 

I pulled the filter and it dosn't smell at all. It's not that horible of a smell and it go's away fast. I also noticed the evap fan dosn't run for 5 minutes when the car is turned off but I also don't know when it's susposed to turn on.


On a different note who has the best maintenance manuals. I was looking at some on ebay called "Vadis Volvo service manual". Is this a good one?

If you can get the DVD version that is the best.
