Can you change the Steering Wheel?
Hi - Newbie here!
I've just bought a 2002 V70 SE which although appears to be a great car has a worn patch on the steering wheel where the previous owner has picked at the beige finish. My mate has a new wheel that I can have, but it only has blanks where I've got cruise and radio controls.
Is it possible to change the steering wheel? or is it a nightmare job (guessing you have to be careful around the airbag), but is it possible to swap between blanks and fully working controls or do you need to re-wire, etc etc?
Other options I thought of was whether someone like chips away could repaint the wheel (not sure if that would work long term) or else a steering wheel cover (would like to avoid that if I can).
Any help or advice gratefully received!
Regards
Matt

Thanks for the reply Tech
He originally had it for a 2006 S60 AWD, but reckons the part numbers are the same - just wanted to be sure before I go down the route of dismantling mine!

If the wheel is a 3 spoke wheel you can swap the switches. If it is a 4 spoke the switches are in the airbag part.
Make sure you disconnect the battery before you start removing the steering wheel.I changed my steering wheel and turned the key to "on" to move the wheel with the airbag removed and set of the "airbag" light. It will not reset on its own. Needs to be hooked up to VADIS or similar.
