I changed the blower motor on my 2001 for the same problem and it's only hard in the sense that you have to be a bit of a contortionist to remove the screws securing the blower motor.
1) Remove the cover panels on the passenger side of the console and below the glove box (just like you would to replace the cabin filter).
2) Remove the glove box by a) Disconnecting the shock absorber by pulling it straight forward at the top, b) Rotating the glove box forward by releasing the retainer tabs/stops on either side at the back, c) this will give you access to all of the screws securing the glove box to the dash. You will also have to disconnect the connector for the glove box light.
3) Remove the door sill trim.
4) Pull the carpet back as far as you can.
This will give you accesss to the screws securing the blower motor. It's a bit akward getting to a couple of the screws but overall the job is pretty straight forward.
