Default v70 blower motor stays on until battery dies

i have a 2001 v70 t5. the blower motor stays on high after the car is turned off. it keeps running until the battery dies. the on/off variable speed switch for the fan speed does not control the fan at all. i have resorted to pulling the fuse to keep the battery from discharging completely. after pulling the fuse, there is no drain on the battery. can i replace just the fan speed on/off switch and if so, how ?

i need to jump in here as well.. im an audi/vw enthusiast myself and am avid on the audi forums, as i own an a4 1.8t with many mods, but im on this for my parents searching for the answer to this SAME EXACT QUESTION. my parents own a 2002 V70 2.4 5cyl (i believe thats correct, not the T5) and they have this same exact problem. if anyone at all could chime in, i know the OP obviously didnt get an answer but i would really love to get this solved for them, and help other individuals in the future who might come across this problem. im assuming a new switch would do the trick, but i realized tonight after taking the car for a drive that the AC compressor would not turn on unless the variable blower switch was at least turned on.. so that leads me to believe the switch still at least works, but the wiring/part that controls the speed of the fan does not. again, any help would be really appreciated. thanks in advance guys

Hello, Sorry for an indefinate answer but I THINK I've read that there's a relay which can get stuck closed and run the blower fan until the battery dies. Kira

Kira, thanks for the reply. i also gathered that from doing more searching and reading last night. i guess the next logical question is where would that relay be located and could it be tinkered with without replacing anything super expensive.
