Default check engine code P0446

I have a 2000 V70R, This just came up this morning... Car has been rough starting (had an earlier code P0455 I think, which I replaced the gas cap as suggested) and running "funny" almost hesitating when you accelerate... any clues as to what would cause the P0446 code and is this a DIY fix?? Local Volvo dealer has my last paycheck due to replacing coil, plugs and wires!!

Thanks

Question re: check engine code P0446

I have a Volvo 2000 V70 with the same code. I am going to try the evap purge valve. If that doesn't work, I am going to start digging. Since nobody has responded to you, what did you do to get rid of your code (almost a decade ago)

Not sure the forum is cool with necroposting, but I'd really like to know what you did!

Wouldn't it be 'necroresponding'?

If the evap purge valve is the one beneath the radiator's header panel don't over look the short hose going to the intake manifold.

Inspect what (hoses) you can by eye.
Drill out the pop rivets of the fender liner of the RR wheel and carefully inspect the filler neck.
Access to the J hose (soft rubber hose which leaks) and charcoal canister (with its connections and other hoses) is easy by removing the RR fender liner the same way.

Next step....get or fabricate a smoke machine.

I just had this on my S40 and replacing the purge valve (as G noted, up by the radiator) cured the code for about $50. I also took the time to inspect hoses first and when I didn't see anything amiss, assumed it was the valve.
