Default Chicken s@!t window

My front passenger window has given up. First it was refusing to go all the way up using the one-touch feature. It would reach the top and then retreat a few inches. Using the normal up would get it stay up all the way. This was the same whether you used driver's or passenger's side switches. Now it only wants to go down about half an inch, and it will go back up again, using either switch. Since the behavior is the same using either switch, I don't think it is a switch problem. And since it goes up and down slightly, I think the motor is getting power. It seems like there is a faulty sensor that is detecting something in the way that stops the window from moving, like a garage door that will stop when it feels resistance to keep from crushing your kid's skull. Any ideas? I assume I will have to remove the door trim, but I want to know what I am looking for before just charging in.

Thanks for any advice.

It won't go down at all if you hold the button down?

Sometimes you have to reset the window by holding the switch and get the window down all the way and hold the switch on for 5 seconds then do the same going up and it will reset the module.

That's right, it only goes down about half an inch and then stops like it is obstructed.

How do I get the window down without the switch?

What do you mean?
Did you disconnect the switch?

Sorry, what I meant was how do you get the window down without the switch working? I can just get my fingers in the gap, but the window won't budge when I try to push it down. Do I have to take the door apart? Do you have instructions on how to do that? For instance, do the plastic retainer clips need to be replaced after removal or can they be reused?

Thanks,
Dave

I would remove the Door panel and see if you have Power at the motor.

To remove the door panel push in the center of the clips and you will feel a click. Then slide them out.
Next remove the cover over the grab handle that you use to close the door. There is 2 t-25 screws under the cover. The door panel should slide off after that.
