Default dash arrow, throttle link

Hello:

I am about to try a third shop.. should I?
First shop could not figure it our, the second one make me wonder if its sincere so unless I get some guidance here I will try a third one.

=Volvo XC70 1999 with 200k miles on=

I had my ignition cylinder replaced and when they put it back, the shop could not figure it out why the orange arrow was blinking and the engine light was on! They said the car is fine but they cannot figure it out.

Car is running fine, not the slightest transmission trouble and the arrow was not showing before I had the ignition cylinder replaced....
finally got around to go to VOLVO and have it checked out. Keep in mind that the previous garage said they cannot figure it out....

..and I went to the VOLVO dealer:

the dealer said that I have some work to do and the blinking arrow is related to the THrottle Body that has to be replaced and software upgrated. There are several codes associated with this: ECM-644A, ECM-91a7, ecm-91b7. Cost is $767+100 for software.

there are other codes that popped, related to (VVT) valve solenoid ($200)

The labour is an extra $195 for these..

What kind of makes me wonder is why did this orange arrow only started after I replace the ignition switch and rewired it...

Honestly if it were me I would not put any more $$ into this car. At 200K you have got your money's worth and you have done better than many others. They changed a lot of systems on the '99 MY they're are often problematic; esp the XCs!

If you really want to keep the car then suggest xemodex for a better designed ETM. Good luck.

For 1 if it did not start untill the last work was done re-check the previous work, I think you answered the question for your self ignition switch pins back out often on those models and or can be placed in the wrong spot. 2 the ETM requires adaption after un hooking the battery in some cases, try key in position 2 30 sec. (Don't start the car) off 2 min and back position 2 30 sec.....it should peen noise from the throttle body (ETM). IF all fails, agreed XemodeX is the way to go! Also important share all info with your mechanic gives us a place to start!

Just because the car is at 200K doesn't mean it's ready for the scrap yard of that this guy didn't just purchase it.

What was wrong with it that you took it in originally ? Was there any warning light on before you took it in the first time ?

Zendix, what did you end up doing ??
