Default Dashboard behavior

I have a 98 V70 T5 that my wife drives. It has about 120k miles on it. She called me today because when she started it all the indicators on the dash were on, stayed on, the gauges didn't move, gas take read 'E' even though it was just filled. She drove it up and down the drive a few times with no changes. She turned it on and off a few times and that didn't correct the issue. However 45 minutes later she went out tried it again and it seemed ok. Any ideas? Is it safe to drive? Thanks in advance.

Maybe it is an issue with the alternator. I would test it.

That is my guess as well. My wife was able to drive it fine last night before I got home. This morning I went out to look at it and it wouldn't start. It felt like low juice. The battery is new and I threw it on a charger this morning before work. I'll check the alt tonight. Is there a guide on alt replacement? It seems rather buried down there.

Sorry I don't have a guide off hand. But it is not all that bad. You will have to remove the power steering pump then you will be able to remove it.
