Default double whammy?

I think I may have two issues. I have a '98 v70xc and I am getting the ABS/Tracs light and I think my brake booster may be failing/failed. I got the car in 2001 and had the dealership replace the ABS module after it malfunctionedin 2001. Had I known about rebuilt units back then I probably would have gone that route. Anyway, I paid the dealership to replace it and now it seems to be going on the blink again. I suppose this is what I get for replacing a defective factory part with a defective factory part. I'd appreciate some feedback from anybody that has had success getting their module rebuilt.
Issue number two. My brakes feel 'wooden' and spongy. I have newer pads and rotors (about 10-12k miles on them) but the brakes feel like they have lost their power. It feels like there is no hydraulic assistance. I imagine this is what it must feel like to drive an old model T. Lots of braking pressure is required compared to how they used to be. Any thoughts?

yeah, I would say the pedal is hard. It takes a lot more force (from my leg) to stop the car.

Maybe the booster is bad if they feel really hard.
