I found out it's the driver's side switchpack, but how can I get the window back up until then?

I got the part on order right now.

You will have to remove the door panel and hot wire the motor to make it go up.

Unplug the motor.
The connect wires to the plug.
Now the motor works on swapping the + and - for up and down.
Add power and ground one way and see which way it goes. If it is trying to go down swap and wires and it should go up.

hmmm...where will I get that power from? I don't want to use jumper cables from the battery. I have a small load battery starter/charger, would that work?

Yes or even sometimes if you have a battery operated drill that the battery comes out of.
I have used one of those in a pinch.
