Dual Exhaust on R
Recently I came across two mufflers to replace the current ones on my car... then realized that one of my mufflers... wasnt really a muffler, sure it has a tip on it and all, but it still seems to really just be a resonator. Well, I looked on the site here and read that someone with an S80 attempted to do a custom dual exhaust setup and LOST power... Is what Im trying to do here worth trying? Ive got a 2000 V70R AWD. Before I try this, any notes I should know?
1. Don't just put two mufflers on the back of your current exhaust system and expect to gain power. All you will gain is sound.
2. That person put a custom dual exhaust on his N/A S80. And he was told multiple times not do do what he did. Well he did do what he did and he lost. He might have gained if he had gone with baffled mufflers instead of free flowing.
3. If you want to gain power your best bet is to purchase and or have a custom 3" MANDREL bent downpipe made and either purchase or have a custom 2.5" mandrel bent catback system made with a free flowing CAT and muffler or mufflers such as BORLA or Magnaflow. You will see the most gains with the downpipe.
N/A's like back pressure while turbos like more free flowing.
