Default Electrical System

Posted last week when I couldn't get my headlines to shut off and the battery went dead. Seems the turn signal turns the high beams on - turn signal handle is somewhat loose. Had car jumped, kept an eye that the high beams weren't on when I shut the car off and no problems the past week. This morning got in car, alarm went off - couldn't get it to stop until I put key in the ignition at the car running position. Battery is dead - or at least it sure sounds like it it - no noise when I try to start the car.
Any ideas how serious this repair will be? Thanks. Car is a 2003.

Hello, Charge the battery if you can. Move the "loose" turn signal handle around to see if it turns the lights on at all. Those things do break. There are relays which go bad too. I'd see to the turn signal switch first. This is a "not serious" repair. Kira

The ignition should turn off all electrical things so my guess is that you have a bad ignition. I recently replaced one on a 960 which was pretty easy. Cost was about $60. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the replies (I'll try to get the car jump started again 0 did a week ago - it's a fairly new battery and the guy who jumped it said the battery and alternator are fine). Why did the alarm go off? The remote key wouldn't work at all nor the door lock buttons inside the car.

Anytime the battery is disconnected and re-connected it sets the alarm. The same for a dead battery. So, when you get it charged or replaced you'll need to lock and unlock the door with the key to reset the alarm.

Thanks again! The car was jumped over a week ago. It's been started a few times since then with no problems. The alarm went off a few minutes after I last got in the car (was waiting in the car for one of my kids to come out to the car to take them somewhere). Couldn't get the alarm to shut off nor the car to start (Battery is dead). Will get it jumped - am nervous what it will cost...

This probably sounds weird but for some time there was a noise coming out of the area in the engine where the fuse box is located - there no longer is any noise - could that have something to do with all of this? Thanks!
