Default Engine Replace - bad idle, now no start

Hey guys!

Love this forum, tons of info,, but after searching I couldn't really find anything helpful, so figure I would post and stop scratching my head.

I picked up a 2001 v70 non turbo 5cyl 2.4 that ran out of oil and broke the rod, sending it through the block while driving down the hwy, I got the car after the previous owner bought another motor from a wrecking yard and had the original motor mostly disconnected, and thats where I came in.

The only thing I had to do was disconnect the motor mounts and the engine came out, put the new one in, plugged everything back in, and vola!

First start up...... fired right up, was idling at what seemed to be around 1.5k a normal warm up speed. Then it started to go higher and higher and higher on its own, it shot up to like 3.5k I shut of off at that point. Thinking I forgot to connect a vacuum hose or had a vacuum hose backwards. It did throw a code, I want to say p2002, some intake left bank something stuck. I wrote it down on a newspaper, that was later thrown away by someone else. So my bad on that.

I dont have a vacuum diagram, so not being the one who disconnect it all, dont really know where it all goes, but I swapped the two hoses on the intake and cleared the codes and tried to run it again. Same idle issues, with it going from 1.5k to like 3k up and down, up and down up and down, shut it off, figured I would do some more internet research before proceeding further, I did notice that I had no control over the throttle during its up and down idle routine.

A few days later, had another mechanicly inclined buddy come over to see if he could spot anything disconnected that I missed. When to start the Volvo and it was just cranking, and just a tinny tinny little bit of wanting to fire, we checked for spark and fuel, and was all good. And it wasnt throwing any codes

At this point I have no ideas. Im thinking possibly something with the EMT. Should the throttle butterfly open when the car is not running when I step on the pedel? This is my first experience with a fly by wire throttle. We did try a little starter fluid and it barley started.

Any ideas or places to start checking and eliminating would me much appreciated.

Thanks

Solved my own problem!

It was a bad ground on the EMT! I read a few posts from Bobec and was able to put some things together, runs like a champ now!
