Default ETS issues

Here we go again. Today my 2000 Volvo V70 XC ETS light came on. There is very little rpms produced. I am told that the throttle module may need to be replaced at a cost of $1000. Or it may be the MAP sensor which would be $400. Ouch... This is my first Volvo and I am not impressed with it's reliability. I know it is 11 years old, but I've had many cars this old and never this many issues. I have to replace the radiator and the prop shaft as it is and now this. I thought volvo's were suppose to be dependable cars. Is the replacement of the throttle module the only fix for this issue?
Very disappointed...Any chance that volvo might take care of part of this due to the history of issues related to this module?
