Default Fautly In Dash Exterior Temp Gauge Readings

I have a 2001 V70 T5 that gets faulty exterior temperature gauge readings from the in dash reading from time to time. Sometimes it is dead on, others it is 20 plus degrees off (typically colder) what the acutal outside temp actually is. Wondering if there is there some sensor that needs to be replaced or cleaned or is it even worth the cost or hassle??

Thanks!!

The sensor is in the passenger side outside mirror.

There are sensors on both mirrors. Before you replace it, try cleaning the sensor. You will need to remove the mirror to pry off the sensor.

This fixed my misreads.
