Fiddling with waste gate
Hi all
I found some interesting reading on the net the other day about "tuning" the waste gate. Basically you adjust the waste gate rod to make it a little "shorter" and it will let through a little more boost in the lower rpm range. Due to the "clever" ME7 system you can't adjust it too far though and apparently you would not want to as it would create unnecesary traction problems (ie wheel spin ). I have so far adjusted mine 1,5 turns in/shorter and you can definitly feel that it's more lively low down (suppose it would be even more obvious on a manual).
This will have to do until I can afford some nice software

RE: Fiddling with waste gate
UUrrrr .... no
I have been meaning to get one for the last 2 months already, but every time something else (maintenance bits) comes up and gobbles my funds.
The P2 monitors and "adjusts" boost automatically so I'm not that worried about over boosting, not that I'm going crazy and turning it all the way (I read some other guys adjusting theirs no more than 2 turns). When I did my exhaust, I tried a local "chip" (Unichip) which the car did not like. You could feel the extra boost on pull away but as soon as you hit 3000rpm you could feel the car bleeding it off (tcv).
I want, when funds permit, get a MTE tune (if possible, logisticaly challenged, live in South Africa )
