Default Filter on A/C?

Similar to a number of other posts on this forum, I have a foul smell for a moment when the aircon first starts. Where do I find the filter to see if it needs to be changed?

It is the cabin filter and it is up under the cowl on pass side on 98-00 v70 and under the pass side glovebox area on 01- models.

Thanks B5452T. I have a '98 V70 TDI - UK model. Can you be a bit more specific on the position - under the cowl? Which cowl and where? It's probably just me being unused to the terminology.

Thanks in advance.

On the 98 open your hood look at the pass side you will see some t25 torx screws holding down the cowl which is the plastic cover under your windshield wipers. Remove 3 of the screws on pass side and the clamp holding the drain to it pull up on cowl and you will see the cabin filter there. pull it out and remove it from the insert and reinstall a new filter in it then reinstall into car.

Maybe next time I'll read everything a bit more carefully... [8D]Thanks for the info - I was thinking I should change mine too, but I hadn't looked into it at all yet.

I replaced my filter and the smell still hasn't gone away when the a/c is on. I'm wondering if I should spray lysol or something up wind of theevapporator whilethe filter isout. I may just let it go, it's not to bad of a smell.
