Default First time Volvo owner

After driving Jaguars for 14 years, I just bought a 2001 V70XC (XC70?) What a great car. 128K miles, nearly perfect condition except for a few minor scratches. No issues reported on CarFax, and regular maintenance throughout.

It's as comfortable as any Jag I've ever driven (great seats), not quick as responsive with the throttle as my XJ's, but still pretty snappy when I need it to be.

I spend a lot of time in the mountains - hiking in the summer or snowboarding in the winter. I can't imagine a better car for that.

I do want to try to get a spare key, but have seen on here that they are pricey.

I also need to find attachments to mount my existing roof rack rails to the side rails if anyone has any tips. I don't want to spend hundreds of bucks just to attach the load rails to the car

Figured I say hi to the forum, and start lurking through some of the posts.

Looks like a nice car. What kind of roof rack do you have? Both Thule and Yakima have simple adapters to use your existing bars and accessories on the Volvo's roof rails. Take a look at REI.com for the specific part.

Thanks.

My rack system is an Inno. I've looked at the adapters specifically for Volvo from Thule and Yakima, and they are so expensive - $280 just for the feet from Thule. Was hoping to find a generic adapter that was priced a little more sensibly

I use the Thule Rapid Crossroad foot pack for my XC70. Works great. $189 at REI.com (watch for 20% off sales) or much cheaper off of Craigslist.

My 01 XC has twice the git up and go my 85 XJS had. but i drove it for 5 years with clogged cats and only figured that out in the last 6 mo i owned it LOL. im not as afraid of this car like i was the Jag. i had lots of fun with it but would never take out of town very far.

Ahh, I still dream of having an XJS convertible It should have definitely been faster than an XC, but they weren't dependable at all in that era.

Hi Ripside: I moved your thread to the V70 section since that is what type of car you purchased.

Thanks - I really wasn't sure, I've seen the car referred to as the V70 Cross Country, V70XC, and XC70.

@rspi - according to the XC70 forum description, I should be posting there, as I have a P2 / 2001 V70XC. The descriptions are a bit vague.
