front and rear brake line replacement help
Hi guys, I'm in the process of R & R the front and rear brakes on my '99 V70.
Two issues:
First, I can't seperate the front flex-lines from the front brake hard lines. I've soaked the two with penetration oil, but my flare wrench is just starting to spin. I've attempted lock-jaws too - no luck. I think I may try some heat (propane), but don't know what else to do. In addition, the r-rear hardline to caliper fitting is seized too - same situation. Any ideas?
Both front flex lines are toast and I have new ones on order, and I'm replacing all the calipers
I'm at the point where i may just cut and re-flare.The hardlines themselves are in excellent shape - its just the unions. I've never done a job like this before. Can any one tell me the size of bubble flare, and the correct size for both the rear hardline to caliper and front flex to hardline fittings.
THanks for any info,
-Andrew

Just an update:
I was successful in removing the front flex lines without destroying the hardline fastner.
I'm still stuck with the right real caliper though. The hardline nut is just about circular now
, so I think I will have to cut the line and caliper off.
Can anyone tell me the size of the rear hardlines. I don't have any measuring vernier calipers but "I think" the line is 4.75mm. Can anyone please confirm this. I'm new at this, so I also wanted to ask, when i go to my local NAPA/CarQuest, what fitting/nut do I purcahse to slide over the brake line before flaring - the nut that fastens the hardline to the caliper? If the line is 4.75mm, then is that the type of end nut I ask for?
Thanks for any help.
