Default the good ol' tranny questions

For a 98 v70 non-turbo...DexIII is all I need correct? I'm thinking of changing some of the fluid by draining down at bottom..

Which are the vehicles that need that Mobil synthetic stuff and how can I tell which tranny I have? Asin/Warner or Geartronic....just some I found by searching.

I have a 4speed auto.. that might make a difference. I have no clue what transmission I have or what fluid to use. (Hope this dosen't stir up anything- just want some clarification)

I guess I should've read the owner's manual. Say's to use Dexron. I would still like to know what transmission I have though.

I'm would say you have a AW50-42, unless you have a turbo model
then it may be different...AW50-42 are the most common tranny for
that model, locate your tranny, should be to the right of the block, right down low you may have to dig a bit to find it.. there
should be a tranny plate on top...it will tell you for sure what tranny it
is.
good luck

Thank you! I will check when I change the fluid. What size is the washer for the plug? Do I need to get a new washer?

The job was very easy to do. I drained and flushed only once. I have 4 more quarts so I might drive alittle andflush one last time. Thanks for the write up by robert123.
Going through the gears in between drains I could hear the transmission clanking. Maybe because putting in 2 quarts after draining 3 or so quarts was not a good idea. It may be a good idea to just drain 3 and refill with 3, then flush.
