Default Have to Purchase Tires

Any suggestions on what tires I should go with on a 2000 front wheel V70? I have Fusions on there now which need replacing. Since I have zero knowledge about tires, I'm not sure if I should stick with that brand, which did just fine, or is something else out there that you may recommend. Comfort is a priority as I commute on local roads. Thank you.

Kuhmo Solus or Ectsa are nice. Mid-range to low range on price, great ride, not as quiet as the michelins but 2/3 the price. I got mine at Discount Tire.

I have Michelin Pilot Ex on my '98 V70 and on my 2003 Jetta 1.8t, and I am very satisfied. They are sport/touring tires, and hug the road pretty well. I have driven the Jetta pretty hard on side roads and in Mexico, and never had a problem, not even a peep. You feel pretty safe with the handling. Plus, there's very little noise and you get a comfortable ride.

The downside? The price, specially when compared to the Kuhmos. However, if you have a Costco membership, their prices are unbeatable: they are already cheaper than almost every other place, plus they usually have a coupon for 80 bucks off if you buy all four tires. Besides, with Costco warranty, you know they won't bull**** you around. I have had two tires replaced for free, without a question, and one of those times it was my wife's mistake (she drove on a flat tire).

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Oh, by the way, if you buy only two new tires, aren't you supposed to put them in the back, so that your tail end doesn't skid on you?

+3 on the Kumho's. Ijust got four on my 1998 V70 and they are terrific. Replaced the Michelin MXV4s I had on the car. I got the Ecsta ASX tire and they do have a low wear, around 30,000 miles. I only drive 5-7K miles a year so I wasn't too worried about the wear. They are not any more noisy then my old Michelin's and have been great so far. I got them from tirerack.com and then took it to a local place to have them mounted. Definitely check out discount tire as they might be more but include mounting. All said and done I think I paid around $68 a tire.
